About this tour
You will be collected from your hotel in Brașov and travel by eco-friendly hybrid vehicle through the Barsa Valley, with the Bucegi and Piatra Craiului massifs framing your journey on either side.
At Libearty - the largest ethical bear sanctuary in Europe - you will join the official guided tour led by the sanctuary's own specialist guide, who will bring the full story to life: how the Millions of Friends Association has rescued over 100 brown bears from a lifetime of captivity in small cages, roadside attractions, and restaurants, and released them into 70 hectares of natural Carpathian forest.
You will watch these animals express natural behaviors - foraging, swimming, playing - many for the first time in their lives. The sanctuary guide will introduce you to individual bears by name, share their histories, and explain the ongoing conservation work that makes Libearty one of the few experiences of its kind in Europe.
Your guide from Transylvania Day Trips will accompany the group throughout, providing additional context about the region, the wildlife, and the journey - and ensuring the day unfolds at a relaxed, personal pace with plenty of time to observe and ask questions.
